Welcome to ChatKey AI. This Privacy Policy explains how ChatKey AI (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use the ChatKey AI mobile application and related keyboard extension (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is provided by Handy AI Apps. Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Quick Summary: We do not collect, log, store, or transmit the characters or text you type with the keyboard in other apps—that content stays on your device and is not sent to our servers for collection. We mainly collect diagnostic information (such as crash reports and technical error data) and limited non-content metadata to understand whether the app is stable and to improve quality and performance. We do not sell your personal information.
1. What We Do Not Collect
To be explicit:
- We do not collect the content of what you type in the keyboard (keystrokes, words, messages, passwords, or fields you fill in other apps).
- We do not use your typing to build an advertising profile or to sell data about what you write.
- We do not upload your keyboard input to our servers for storage or analytics.
Typing and related input remain under your control on your device, subject to how your operating system and any permissions you grant work (for example, network access for the keyboard extension as explained by Apple in Settings).
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
We may collect information you choose to send us, such as:
- Account or sign-in details (for example, email or identifiers) if the Service offers sign-in and you use it;
- Support communications—the content of emails or messages you send to us when you contact support or give feedback (we use this only to respond and improve the Service).
2.2 Diagnostics, Crashes, and Technical Data
To keep the Service reliable and to fix bugs, we collect diagnostic and stability data. This may include:
- Crash reports and error logs—information about when the app or extension stops unexpectedly, stack traces, and related technical context needed to identify the failure;
- Device and environment metadata—such as device model, operating system version, app version, and language/locale settings;
- Performance signals—for example, anonymized or aggregated indicators that help us see whether a release improves stability (not tied to what you type).
This category of data is used to understand whether the app crashes or misbehaves and to improve quality; it is not used to reconstruct what you typed.
2.3 Analytics (Non-Content)
Where enabled, we may use analytics tools to understand high-level usage of the app (for example, which screens or settings are opened, or feature toggles), in a form that does not include the text you type in the keyboard. You can often limit analytics through your device or system settings, depending on platform options.
2.4 Third-Party Sign-In
If you sign in with a third party (for example, Apple or Google), we may receive:
- Your name and email address or stable identifiers as provided by that service;
- Profile details you authorize.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate and deliver the Service—including preferences you save in the app;
- Diagnose and fix crashes and errors—prioritizing stability and compatibility with new OS releases;
- Improve quality and performance—without collecting keyboard typing content;
- Communicate with you—for example, to reply to support requests;
- Protect security and integrity—detect abuse of our systems where applicable;
- Comply with law—when required by applicable regulations or lawful requests.
5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Retention
Diagnostic and crash data are retained only as long as needed to investigate issues, monitor stability after releases, and meet legal obligations. Support messages are kept for a reasonable period to handle your request and follow-ups.
5.2 Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we hold. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
6. Keyboard Extension and Permissions
Third-party keyboards may request capabilities such as network access. Granting such permissions does not change this policy: we still do not collect your typing content as described in Section 1. If platform providers (such as Apple) collect separate telemetry about apps on the device, that is governed by their policies.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing.
7.1 Access and Updates
You may be able to update account-related information in the app or through your sign-in provider.
7.2 Deletion
You may request deletion of information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions, by contacting us below.
7.3 Device and Analytics Controls
You can review privacy and analytics settings on your device (and in the app, where available) to limit optional analytics or similar processing.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. Contact us if you believe we have done so.
9. International Data Transfers
Diagnostic providers and infrastructure may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) in addition to any consent required in your region.
10. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA may grant you rights including:
- The right to know categories of personal information collected and how it is used;
- The right to delete personal information, subject to exceptions;
- The right to opt out of “sale” of personal information—we do not sell personal information in the CCPA sense;
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
11. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or UK, you may have GDPR rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent where processing is consent-based.
To exercise these rights, contact us using Section 12.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or other reasonable means where appropriate.
